Course Description

Congratulations on completing the first half of honors physics curriculum. In the fall, we focused on the one-dimensional and two-dimensional kinematics aspect of Newtonian Mechanics. We covered crucial concepts that shapes the entire physics framework, such as vectors, vector operations, reference frame, velocity, acceleration and gravitational acceleration. We solved 2 D projectile motion and connected such motion with real-world applications. We also started on dynamic aspect of Newtonian Mechanics. We discussed why objects move the way they do. Newton’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd law were studied closely.

Topics Covered

The second half of the honors curriculum is especially fun and crucial. Lots of applications are used in examples. Topics include:

  • Apparent weight
  • Centripetal motion
  • Collision
  • Energies
  • Torques
  • Mechanical waves
  • EM waves
  • Electric fields
  • Magnetism
