Test prep for 4th and 5th graders will further strengthen students’ understanding and grasp of the ELA New York State test—and their ability to ace it—while deepening their enjoyment of reading and writing.
Until the test is given in April, we will regularly practice earlier versions of the test to make test skills automatic as well as review common writing mistakes.
We will discuss and review troublesome aspects of grammar and usage, the meaning of literary terminology, and how literary techniques can be used to good effect until these are clear and understood.
We will also read, both independently and out loud in class, a variety of texts—fiction, non-fiction, and poetry—that will engage, amuse, and challenge students and clearly demonstrate the pleasures that can be found in reading.
