After graduating with a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Chen worked as a mechanical engineer at Caterpillar, Inc. in the R&D department. As a career changer going into her 9th year as an educator, Dr. Chen feels extremely fortunate to have taught a wide range of math and science classes to 6 grades all the way to college level. Currently, she teaches 12th-grade Physics at a public school, and before that, she taught Algebra II, Honors Physics, and AP Physics at a private school.
Dr. Chen incorporates her effective pedagogical models with cohort-tailored lessons to maximize everyday learning. Her primary goal is for students to match her level of enjoyment and passion for the subject, no matter how hard it initially seems. She believes there is always a better way to learn or teach! Outside of school, Dr. Chen loves making crafts using recycled materials. She is also a lover of succulents and owns around 200 of them. A great day for Dr. Chen would involve a great workout or crafting, which would be ideal for her to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
