We will explore the key civilizations of ancient times by trying to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics and learning about the Pharaohs’ pyramids.
We’ll also examine when sports first became popular, discuss the traditions of the Olympic Games, and learn about heroes and thinkers of Ancient Greece. We will also sneak a peek at the Great Wall of China to learn about inventions that changed the world and discover who and when the idea of alphabets and writing systems originated and advanced.
We will admire the soaring heights that Incas, Mayas, and Aztecs reached in temple-building, farming, and time calculating according to their calendar.
In the second half of the course, we will marvel at the courage of the medieval knights and the beauty and grace of the aristocratic ladies.
We will learn about the feudal system and the people’s faith in magical creatures. We will answer questions like where the ballads were written and where the troubadours traveled. We will discover where all the famous knight tournaments and battles took place.
We will also learn why and how medieval life revolved around the castle, see its architectural structure, and admire the best surviving examples of those edifices.
